Netscape's 4.5 E-mail Client for Win95/98

This is a brief tutorial showing you how to set up your Netscape Browser to connect to our server and retrieve your mail.

These screens are broken up into two different sections - one for Basic Web Accounts, and one for Domain Web Accounts. Follow the instructions that correspond to the account you have.

Basic Web Account (you@mia.net)
Domain Web Account (you@your-domain.com)

Basic Web Account Setup

  1. Start the Netscape Browser by double clicking on the program icon. Choose "Preferences..." under the "Edit" menu. You will be shown the Preferences window. The main preferences that must be set are in the "Mail & Newsgroups" under "Identity".

  2. Fill in the information as shown in the "Identity" area.

Now select "Mail Servers"

  1. Fill in the SMTP mail server name as shown.
  2. Now Click on "Add" at the top left near "Incoming Mail Servers."

  1. Fill in the mail server name as shown.
  2. "Server Type" should be "POP3" only.
  3. Enter your user name you selected where it says "your-username".

These are the only mandatory settings you need to check your e-mail using the Netscape 4.5 E-mail client. There are other settings, but they do not need to be specific. You are now ready to use your e-mail account. Close the window, and choose "Messenger" from the "Communicator" menu. From then on, you may read the documentation that came with the Netscape Browser.
