Apple iPhone Configuration for mail Email ![]() Apple iPhone Follow these instructions to configure your Apple iPhone to check your mail . The iPhone only supports email synchronization using the IMAP protocol. Calendar, contacts, and tasks are not supported. Note: You only need to follow these configuration steps once. Once your mailbox is setup, your iPhone will connect to the mail and download new messages whenever the mailbox is opened. IMAP Client Configuration (Email)Step One - Locate Settings IconClick the iPhone Home button to open the Home Menu. Tap the Settings icon, located on the right hand side of the screen. The Settings Menu is displayed.
Step Two - Select Mail SettingsFrom the Settings Menu, select Mail by tapping the Mail icon. The Mail Menu is displayed.
Step Three - Add Email AccountFrom the Mail Menu, tap Add Account… Select Other from the email account list. The Account Menu is displayed.
Step Four - Enter Email Account InformationEnsure that the IMAP tab is selected. Required fields are: Name - the account holders name Address - in standard email format, for example: your.name@your-domain.com Description - an identifying name for the account
Step Five - Define Email Servers and Port NumbersRequired fields for Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers: Host Name - mail.your-domain.com - the name of your mail server User Name - enter your email address Password - enter your email account password Tap SMTP under Outgoing Mail Server Tap mail server listed (mail.your-domain.com) under Primary Server Tap Server Port and enter 587
Step Six - Advanced Email SettingsTap Advanced to open the Advanced Menu. Tap Authentication and then choose Password Tap Advanced to go back to the Advance Menu You can optionally change the default Drafts, Sent, and Deleted destination folders. Your Mail Account is now configured.
Step Seven - Open InboxClick the Home button to return to the Home Menu. From the Home Menu, click the Mail icon.
Step Eight - Synchronize EmailAs soon as you open your mailbox, the iPhone connects to the mail and begins retrieving messages (there may be a pause for a few seconds if you have many items in your inbox). You can now view and reply to your emails using your Apple iPhone.
